Kasey Kahne was unbeatable this weekend winning both events at California Speedway. Kahne dominated the Nextel Cup event leading a race high (130) laps and battled back from a speeding penalty on pit road. Kenseth makes a double weekend win at Bristol
Matt Kenseth showed his strength again Saturday night winning the Nextel Cup Sharpie 500 making a sweep of the Busch and Cup events this weekend. Kyle Busch finished second followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr, Scott Riggs, and Jeff Gordon. "We had a good car," Kenseth said. "It wasn't quite as good as last night. We had to adjust on it all day. Dale Earnhardt Jr battled Robby Gordon and Carl Edwards on a green-white-checker restart which ended up with Edwards spinning and Dale Jr in Victory Lane. With three laps to go Harvick got a run off the final corner and passed Stewart down the frontstretch in front of the grandstand for the lead and held on to capture his first road course victory. Stewart held on to finish second followed by Jamie McMurray, Robby Gordon, and Carl Edwards. "This GM Goodwrench Chevrolet was a lot of fun to drive today," Harvick said in Victory Lane. Jimmie Johnson wins at the Brickyard
Jimmie Johnson battled back from a flat tire that put him at the back of the pack to take the checkered flag winning the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. Kyle Busch had a dominant car and led the most laps on his way to victory at New Hampshire Int'l Speedway Sunday afternoon. On a hot, slick race track Busch collected his first Nextel Cup victory of the year moving him up four spots in the championship standings. Jeff Gordon added a controversial win at Chicagoland Speedway to his career statistics Sunday afternoon. A late race bump while racing Matt Kenseth for the lead sent the DeWalt Ford spinning. After no objection from NASCAR for the incident Gordon went on to win the event. Denny Hamlin has taken a real liking to Pocono Raceway after he won the Bud Pole Award and then took the victory in this weekends 500 mile race.
