* Petty Brings New Colors to Michigan

* American Spirit Motor Oil Primary Sponsor on #45 Dodge

This weekend, Kyle Petty and the #45 Marathon American Spirit Oil Dodge team will head to the two-mile Michigan International Speedway, located in the city of Brooklyn , for Sunday's GFS Marketplace 400.  Petty will debut the Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil scheme for the first time this season.  It's a "home" race for the brand because Marathon has a regional office located in nearby Findlay , Ohio .  Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil will be the primary sponsor for three more races this season and an associate on both cars the rest of the year.

Petty will be making his 51st start at Michigan this weekend.  Petty is fifth on the all-time start list at Michigan , but is the only current full-time driver still competing.  Petty has three top-five and 10 top-10 finishes at the track in his career.

Comments from Petty as he prepares for Sunday's GFS Marketplace 400:

You have a new look this weekend.  What's the new primary sponsor for this weekend?

"We announced at Indy that Marathon , and their American Spirit Motor Oil brand, has come on board for the rest of this season.  We're pretty excited about that.  We've got to thank Competitive Edge Motorsports for allowing them to transfer their sponsorship.  That's basically what happened, and we're grateful for them allowing that to happen.

"We were in a position where we needed about seven or eight races sponsored on my car.  This deal came together, and we think it's going to be another great partnership. They filled some big holes for us.  We're still looking to fill a few more races, but this will help.   They are debuting this weekend because they have a big office in Findlay , Ohio .  That's not far from the track and we wanted to give them some support near their home.  We think it's a good looking car and looking forward to having fun with these guys on board this weekend."

There have been a lot of "Silly Season" happenings over the past few weeks. How does Petty Enterprises look for 2007?

"You know, I don't think we got caught up in `silly season' at all this year.  That's great for us.  We had a lot of that last season, but this year has been full of positives for us.  Of course, we had the change with Todd (Parrott) last week or so, but that was still a case of everyone making a decision best for everyone involved.

"We have done a lot of great things so far this season. We've got General Mills on back for another strong commitment, we've brought American Spirit Motor Oil to the sides and hood of this car, we had a top-10 with Tire Kingdom and we're doing a ton with Wells Fargo and Schwan's Home Service. We're getting stronger every week as an organization and it is creating a lot of excitement.  I think Robbie (Loomis) and Bobby (Labonte) have brought that excitement and energy back to Petty Enterprises. It has really shown and both teams are building off that momentum."

Does this sport change with momentum?

"It really does.  Look at some other teams and things that have happened this season.  If something goes bad it's not good in this sport.  You have drivers and teams makings tons of changes.  That's usually not a good situation.  There are times when it is, but we've seen a lot of things this season.  In a lot of cases it has brought a lot of disturbance.

"We've been blessed to be riding some good momentum.  We really haven't had to deal with that.  We had one change, but like I said, it was good for everyone.  This weekend is another case of something good for everyone.  Having American Spirit Motor Oil join the organization is awesome for us.  They are going to be an associate on both cars the rest of this season and we'll be primary for three more races on my car. I think we're looking forward to the rest of this season and for 2007.  All the guys on this `45' team are really committed.  We want to do great things for all our sponsors this weekend and the rest of the year."
