Jarrett Discusses Racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway
How tough will this weekend be with it being your final race with Robert Yates Racing?
"For probably the last couple weeks as the races have run down I have been thinking about this race and some of the memories we had here. It's hard to believe that 12 years at Robert Yates Racing is coming to an end. Robert and the Yates family have treated me like family and it will be very difficult when I climb out of that car for the last time on Sunday. I owe a lot of people a lot. I think Saturday and Sunday will be tough days and I hope to be able to at least leave Homestead with a solid effort for Robert, the 88 team and the entire organization."
What are your thoughts on this weekend's race itself?
"Homestead has been a difficult track for us, especially since they changed the track in 2003 which is kind of the opposite of what you would think since the track is considerably better than it was before the changes and even after. The surface has some age to it and it has a little more grip which is helpful but for whatever reason we haven't been able to hit on the set-up we need. These down force tracks have been an issue for us for some time now but we're taking a decent car and felt like we learned some things at the test."
Chassis 69
Chassis 69 has been resurrected for this weekend's race in Homestead. Chassis 69 was last seen in racing action at Lowe's Motor Speedway where the UPS Team was forced to retire from the race early after getting hit from behind by rookie driver Reed Sorenson. Chassis 69 is the same car Jarrett raced to a fourth-place finish at Kansas Speedway in early October the car's best performance to date. Jarrett scored a 10th-place finish at California Speedway while racing Chassis 69 in September.
