CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES - HOMESTEAD POST RACE QUOTES
Ford 200 - Homestead-Miami Speedway
MARK MARTIN - No. 6 Scott's Ford - (Race Winner)
"You know this certainly the way we would have wrote it if we could have wrote a storybook ending to it, but we still have Sunday night to go. My car wasn't too bad today. My AAA Fusion. So tomorrow we're going to try and get it wired in this good. Mike Beam and these guys are a dream to work with. Just pretty incredible to drive this stuff."
ON THE MEANING OF WINNING ANOTHER TROPHY FOR JACK ROUSH.
"Well it does mean an incredible lot, but this is such a team effort. We had huge hordepower under the hood today with Roush/Yates power. This is the way to end it up with the 6. It's a good thing that there's a number six on the side of this truck. Like I said, we lacked two feet of winning this Cup race last year and I know that's asking a lot."
ON RACING UP FRONT WITH BRENDAN GAUGHAN.
"Yeah Brendan really had that top line working there and I just had to be real careful you know? Didn't want to make any mistakes, we had a great truck here and we just wanted to make sure we made the pass clean and didn't have any trouble there." Press Conference
BRENDAN GAUGHN - No. 77 South Point Dodge - Finished 2nd
ON RACING MARK MARTIN.
"I love it when you race against professionals. You know, Mark Martin is perrinial and I think this South Point Racing team, we're just about ready to be back on top. We can run with Mark Martin then you know your team deserves it. My boys did a fantastic job...Highest finish by a Dodge this year. We brought it home one spot shy of the "w" but I'm so proud of my boys. It feels so good to be back near here."
ON THE TWO TIRE STOP.
"I don't get worried about those things. My crew chief makes those calls and I'm the dummy behind the wheel. Brian Berry made that call and Tony Liberate, he made those calls. Either way you back your crew and it was a great decision. I just wish I could have held him off for just a couple more laps."
ERIK DARNELL-99-Woolrich Ford F-150 (Finished 3rd)
"John Quinn (crew chief) and all of the guys on this whole team did a great job tonight. We kind of got bit on pit road a couple of times there, but the guys really nailed the pit stop and got pretty good track position and John made the right adjustments on the truck. The thing was pretty good there at the end. I didn't quite have enough for Mark, but if I had about five more laps, I might have been able to race Brendan there."
YOU WERE ABLE TO CLINCH ROOKIE-OF-THE-YEAR HONORS THIS YEAR.
"That was our ultimate goal at the beginning of the year. If you at who Jack brought through the truck series, you look at Carl Edwards, you look at Greg Biffle, you look at Kurt Busch, those guys that he has had in his truck, and they've all gone on and won rookie of the year in the truck series and gone on to great things in Nextel Cup. That's my ultimate dream out here, and I think this is my first step to achieving my goal."
BOBBY HAMILTON JR - No. 18 Fastenal Dodge - Finished 4th
"This is the way we needed to end the year, you know? We just put a really good run...nothing fell off...no kind of bad luck or anything. A bunch of Fastenal people here, Bosch and everybody. Truck was great. I was trying to run the bottom all day long, jumped up top and took off. I had as good a truck as Mark (Martin) I mean if I could just get to him. I never could get to him. I can't wait till the Busch and Cup race. That's going to be a heck of a show with the outside the way it is."
ADJUSTMENTS ON THE TRUCK.
"Half pound out of the right front and I think a round up on the track bar and that was it."
ON BOBBY SR.
"He's doing good. This is the best medicine we could give him. I wish he was here to run this race tonight but he's going to concentrate on next year or whatever. But tonight he got to see his truck. I kept asking 'Are we getting any TV time?' They're like. 'Yeah.' So that way he couyld sit at home and see us."
JACK SPRAGUE - No. 60 Con-way Toyota - Finished 5th
"It was pretty good. I mean we started off wicked loose going in, tight in the middle, loose off and I just kept searching the track. Luckily you can do that and I had to end up running right against the fence. We had trouble in the pit there on the middle stop. I don't know how far I got back but I had to come from a long way back. Hey, to get a top-five, got to fifth in points, that's pretty sweet. I mean, that was a big day for us. Brand new team, first year out finish fifth in the points, that's pretty awesome. Just want to thank Con-way Freight and Toyota and everybody at Arctic Cat, (continued listing sponsors). The Wyler's man. We had a great time this year. I want to say hi to my daughter, I love her and I'll see her tomorrow. I just want to thank everybody."
ON CARRYING MOMENTUM INTO NEXT YEAR.
"I wish it wasn't over. I mean the second half of the year has been spectacular. Even when we were breakin', like at Bristol, Talladega and things, we still were runing really good. So you know, we made a save today. That thing wasn't too good to begin with. We made the right adjustments and come home fifth. So come home fifth in points, gained two on that deal. Man I'm just really happy with where I'm at right now, with the Wyler's, Toyota, and Con-way. It's just a lot of fun. That's the way it's supposed to be. When it's fun you run well."
JOE NEMECHEK, No. 46 Ginn Clubs and Resorts Silverado - Finished 6th:
"Man we were awesome until that last set of tires then we just got tight tight. I sure love driving in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in this Silverado. I can't say enough for Eric Phillips (crew chief), his crew and everyone at Morgan-Dollar Motorsports. It is just a ton of a lot of fun.
"We were a little tight at the start of the race but the guys made good adjustments and we were strong in the middle part. But a good night over all for us."
DENNIS SETZER, No. 85 E85 FlexFuel Silverado - Finished 9th:
"It was an impressive call Randy Goss (crew chief) made to go with fuel only and no tires. Just shows he is a championship caliber crew chief to make a call like that and gain us about 10 spots. We came out of here with a top-10 for our FlexFuel E85 Silverado, I am proud of those guys. Great stops all-night and great call by the crew chief.
"We were really loose early and made some adjustments during the race, got it pretty good there in the middle part of the race. It was about the best we ran. When we didn't get tires there, I was just riding it out, we got a little tight there at the end with 70 laps on the tires. Still pretty impressive run."
TERRY COOK-10-Ford Power Stroke Diesel by Int'l F-150 (Finished 10th)
"The weekend started off real good. We were real good in practice. We tried something completely new suspension-wise that we are not accustomed to running. We thought it was going to work here for us, and I can't say that it didn't. But, track position was everything tonight. We found that out early on and we did a great job with the Ford Power Stroke Diesel by Int'l truck to work the track position and get to the front after having a very sub-par performance in qualifying. Our ultimate goal this weekend was to finish in the top 10 in points and I think we achieved that. It gives us something to build on. We're trying to put this program together for next year, and hopefully this will seal the deal to do that and continue to move on."
IS THERE SOME UNCERTAINTY FOR YOU HEADING INTO THE OFF-SEASON?
"It's never any fun. A top-10 finish and a top-10 points finish doesn't mean anything. It's all about catching somebody's eye and somebody making the right decision, I hope, at any rate. There's a lot of uncertainty, and Monday morning's coming and I basically don't have a job, and it's tough. We'll be looking and hopefully I find something."
Mike Hillman Jr. - No. 30 Crew Chief
"I'm just the lucky guy who gets called the crew chief. All these guys and that guy out there (Bodine) they did a heck of a job. I couldn't be any prouder for everybody at Germain Racing."
MICHEL JOURDAIN, JR.-50-PurposeMoney.com Ford F-150 (Finished 31st)
"To drive for Jack Roush, it's a really big dream come true. It's an amazing thing. It was a really good opportunity, and I'm really happy that it worked out. It was very important for me to do it."
YOUR RUN TONIGHT WAS SPOILED BY AN EARLY INCIDENT. IT APPEARED THAT YOU HAD NOWHERE TO GO TO AVOID CONTACT.
"That's exactly right. I had nowhere to go, and that was it."
