Bowyer Aims for Victory in Final ACDelco Appearance
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Nov. 14, 2006) With a victory and three additional top-five performances in the last six races, ACDelco driver Clint Bowyer is focused on a similarly strong finish at the Busch Series season finale this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Bowyer, who enters the event third in Busch Series points, is hoping a victory will propel him past Carl Edwards to second in the standings and provide ACDelco with a winning memory of the brand's final appearance on the No. 2 Chevrolet. ACDelco will not return as the primary sponsor of the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) No. 2 car in 2007.
"ACDelco is the best sponsor I could have ever imagined having in the Busch Series," said Bowyer. "Their record speaks for itself. They have the most wins and the most championships than any other sponsor, and I'm proud to be a part of that history. Hopefully, we can add to it with a victory at Homestead."
For over two decades, the ACDelco brand has been intrinsically associated with the Busch Series. As both an event and team sponsor, ACDelco has made significant contributions to the growth and success of NASCAR's premier feeder series. During the past 10 years, an impressive roster of drivers has competed in the ACDelco Chevrolet, including Steve Park, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Johnny Sauter, Ron Hornaday, and Clint Bowyer.
From 1997 through 2006, ACDelco drivers have earned an unrivalled three Busch Series championships, two Rookie-of-the-Year titles and 30 victories. In addition, ACDelco drivers have earned at least one Busch Series win in each of the last 10 years, including Bowyer's victory at Dover International Speedway in September.
Bowyer about Homestead-Miami Speedway…
"Homestead is unique with the multi-grade banking and just the way you drive it. I always seem to be most happy right down on the bottom of the track because it's the flattest part. The tires are another big part of the way you drive it and how you use a lot of brake on a big track like it. It's all stuff that I normally don't do on a track this size."
