NASCAR Busch Series Notes:

Sam Hornish Jr., three-time IndyCar Series Champion and 2006 Indianapolis 500 race winner, will attempt to qualify the No. 39 Mobil 1 Dodge for his second NASCAR Busch Series event at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday.

Hornish has competed at Homestead-Miami Speedway six times in IndyCar competition, with an average starting position of 3.6.

Hornish has visited victory lane at Homestead-Miami Speedway three times 2001, 2002, and 2004 - compiling an average finish of 3.0.  His 2004 victory marked the first time an open-wheel driver had won in his inaugural race with Penske Racing.

Matt Gimbel, crew chief of the No. 39 Mobil 1 Dodge, and the Mobil 1 team will take chassis PBC-007 to this weekend's Ford 300.  This car was last driven by Ryan Newman at Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 25 where Newman qualified 1st and finished 6th after leading 95 laps.  Additionally, this chassis was used at the following Busch Series events in 2006:

- California Speedway Feb. 25, started 2nd and finished 2nd leading 15 laps.

- Richmond International Raceway May 5, started 4th and finished 5th leading 10 laps.

- Darlington Raceway May 12, started 6th and finished 30th.

Hornish Jr:

"Just like PIR last week, I've completed a lot of laps at Homestead in the past, so I am familiar with the track.  At this point, I'm uncertain if it is better to come to these tracks with no experience vs. experience in another form of racing.  The biggest challenge so far is understanding what these Busch cars need from a setup standpoint to go fast.  I enjoyed working with Matt and everyone on the Mobil 1 Dodge last week and look forward to hitting the track Friday afternoon.  The game plan this weekend will be similar to last, as I am looking to gain as much experience as possible through running laps and staying out of trouble."
